New metro infrastructure in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s capital is on the brink of an urban transformation, with a modern metro being built above and below the city’s streets. The Riyadh Public Transport Project is one of the world’s largest integrated public transportation projects. It will cost USD22.5 billion, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
Made up of 6 separate lines, the new infrastructure will criss-cross the city, linking universities to the airport, and sporting attractions such as the King Fahad stadium.
The metro project is a key element of the Saudi Vision 2030, creating a metropolitan economic infrastructure and helping Riyadh become one of the world’s top 100 cities.
