Ross Milton was recognized as the Arabian Business StartUp Entrepreneur of the Year in 2017. With over 20 years of experience as a Chief Financial Officer, working with brands such as M&M’s, Dolmio, Snickers, and Wrigley’s Gum, he has been a key figure in shaping the sports and entertainment landscape across the Middle East.

How did you come up with the idea of Bounce?

When looking at sport for youth in the region, we saw limited options. We love the concept of children, the community, and young adults getting fitter and healthier in an entertaining way, and with trampolining becoming widely recognized as an Olympic sport in Sydney 2000, we felt the time was right. The indicators all came together, and we decided to bring it to Qatar. One area we focus on is schools. Schools, similar to Bounce, try to find fun and innovative ways to educate kids on complex topics such as Newton's laws of gravity, and there is nothing cooler than learning this on a trampoline, with the added benefit of getting them fitter at the same time. In Qatar, we have already had about 25 schools and several thousand students visiting us.

How are you working to attract new partners, and where do you add value?

We met with a Qatari partner interested in sponsoring the idea and bringing it alive locally. He has been an incredible help, and like us is passionate about the health and wellbeing of the Qatari community. The company brings in a great deal of expertise on trampolining as a sport, the entertainment aspect, and the know-how of running an entertainment business. When there are thousands of Qataris coming in every week, it is quite an act to ensure they can come here and have a great time while being safe. We spent a great deal of time figuring out how to bring the brand to life in the right way. It is about the music we play, the people we hire, how we train them, the atmosphere we create, and the flow of the place. Trampolining is in our DNA, and this sets us apart.
