The Business Year launches Azerbaijan 2015

Azerbaijan, May 22, 2015—At an exclusive dinner at the Four Seasons in Baku, Azerbaijan’s Administration of the President, in partnership with The Business Year, launched its latest edition on Azerbaijan’s economy, The Business Year: Azerbaijan 2015.

The publication consists of over 120 interviews with top executives and government officials, including a special contribution from the President, HE Ilham Aliyev, in which he discusses the strong performance of Azerbaijan’s economy, the upcoming First European Games to be held in Baku, and the 2015 Year of Agriculture.

In his keynote address, HE Dr. Prof. Ali Hasanov, The Aide to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Public and Political Affairs, Head of Department for Public and Political Affairs, 1st Grade State Councilor, said, “2015 is a landmark year for Azerbaijan. The First European Games is a monumental event for our country. It not only highlights the strength that Azerbaijan has in terms of hosting international events, but it has emphasized how sophisticated national development has been. We aredelighted to partner with The Business Year for the fifth year in a row, and the research has once again provided the international community of investors with the most up-to-date and insightful publication on Azerbaijan’s economy.”

The publication focuses on key issues surrounding Azerbaijan’s development economically, socially, and politically. With a strong energy sector, a quickly growing tourism infrastructure, and the upcoming First European Games, Azerbaijan takes a leading role in the Caucasus region.

Bilateral ties play an important part of the publication, which establishes the growing role that Azerbaijan is playing on a global scale. Speaking about the Baku Games in the publication, His Serene Highness, Prince Albert II, Prince of Monaco says, “The choice of Azerbaijan is very interesting in that I know this country wants to host many international events, and I think that it is great exposure for them and probably a stepping stone to other major events.”

Continuing the strengthening of ties with Europe is also a focal topic within the publication. The President of Czech Republic, Milo≈° Zeman, spoke of the increasing cooperation with Azerbaijan. “I am glad that Azerbaijan is expanding its economic activities in the Czech Republic. We welcome Azerbaijani investment in our country and hope that there is even more to come.”

HE Mamnoon Hussain, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, also spoke of the historical strength and partnership between the two nations; “Azerbaijan has achieved a great level of economic development and so has Pakistan, despite the many challenges and our difficult regional and geo-strategic environment. This only proves the potential and resilience of our two nations.”

The Business Year: Azerbaijan 2015 will reach a global audience of 97,700 readers via its printed version, while a wider audience will be able to access it through TBY’s iPad, iPhone, and Android applications. The interviews are structured around chapters covering the main sectors of the economy, including finance, energy, industry and mining, telecoms and IT, transport, construction and real estate, agriculture, health and education, and tourism.
