TBY signs MoU with the Industrial Association of Mallorca (ASIMA)

Palma de Mallorca, July 28, 2021—Representatives from The Business Year (TBY) and the Industrial Association of Mallorca (ASIMA) have signed an MoU to establish a partnership to collaborate on the production of the upcoming Special Report: Mallorca. This agreement will allow TBY to shed more light on the industrial landscape of the island of Mallorca and the investment opportunities available.

Francisco Martorell Esteban, President of ASIMA, told TBY in an interview that; “There are more than 2,000 companies located in the Son Castelló and Can Valero industrial areas, distributed across a multitude of sectors. The top-five most-representative are: trade and vehicle repairs, manufacturing, construction, real estate, and hotel and catering. The level of specification is a reflection of the Balearic economy.”

Additionally, Mallorca seeks to further embrace sustainability and circularity, given the high pressure of more than 13 million visitors per year in pre-COVID-19 times. According to Francisco Martorell Esteban, the existing industrial sector is committed to support this transformation. “We want to turn the Son Castelló industrial area into the first one in Spain to calculate air quality, carbon footprint, and other environmental variables that help us to make working environments increasingly sustainable and efficient. All companies are already obliged to calculate their carbon footprints. We will have an online platform where we will display all the data. The novelty of this project is that it is a large area, and blockchain technology is being used. We hope that, in 2022, it will be a reality. As far as companies are concerned, there is a strong environmental responsibility. Mallorca is full of natural resources, and businesses all want to take care of them and conserve them so that we continue to be the jewel of the Mediterranean.”

The MoU was signed after taking into consideration TBY’s experience as a global media group that has been providing investors, businesses, and governments with first-hand insights into the world’s most dynamic markets and sectors for over a decade, and ASIMA’s position as a representative entity of the industrial sector of Mallorca. The report will feature the direct words of a wide range of local business leaders through interviews, as well as additional statistical information and articles addressing the main projects and initiatives to bear in mind when considering investing in Mallorca.

Special Report: Mallorca will be distributed both domestically and globally, and will reach an even larger audience via TBY’s powerful network of digital platforms. All interviews and content will be also available on the key business information platforms, including Bloomberg Terminal, Refinitiv Eikon, Dow Jones Factiva, and FactSet.
