Guillaume Bidan

What is the relevance of Panama to General Electric as a platform to consolidate overseas and control your regional business?

General Electric has been present in Panama for over a century and, in 2012, it selected this country as a regional platform to oversee business activities in 39 countries and territories of Central America and the Caribbean. We now have over 40 professionals in our Panama office who represent all our business lines and cover not only Panama, but also the whole region.

What is GE's strategy to capture the opportunities created in the LNG segment by the recent expansion of the Panama Canal?

General Electric is the main partner of AES Panama for the first natural gas-fired power plant that will be installed in Panama. General Electric is supplying the core equipment for this major project, namely the gas turbines from our factory in France. It will result not only in very high efficiency, but also an environmentally friendly plant that will positively impact the development of Panama and neighboring countries. We are proud to be part of this first LNG adventure in Panama and the Central American region.
