TBY talks to Jean-Michel Morvan, Project Director, Panama Metro-Alstom Transport on the sector.

Jean-Michel Morvan

What factors influenced the decision to select Alstom as the preferred partner for the development of the Metro of Panama?

Being the preferred partner for the development of such projects is one of the pillars of our 2020 strategy. We offer a complete range of solutions within the transportation segment for our customers and our work is characterized by operational and environmental excellence. We are also customer oriented and demonstrated our commitment in our work on the Panama Line 1, delivering the project in a record time of 39 months.

Alstom predicts sales to grow organically by 5% annually by 2020. How will Latin America contribute to this target?

The projects in Panama can be replicated in other countries in the region. It is important to communicate what we are doing with the Metro de Panama internally. We are committed in Latin America, for example in Brazil, and there are many opportunities that we want to pursue. By the end of 2017, our main target is to continue delivering projects to our clients on time, providing the highest reliability figures in terms of maintenance, and, by doing that, continuing to support the development of Metro de Panama.
