Oman is a small country, but with incredible sights filling every corner of its villages, towns, and cities, it has much to offer to all kinds of tourists, especially the ones keen on history and nature. No matter the length of your trip, below are the most mind-blowing places that must be included in any visit to the country.

Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Muscat

Muscat is the first place on the bucket list of anyone travelling to Oman, and high on everyone's list is a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Built from 300,000 tons of Indian sandstone, it covers an area of 456,000sqm. Although the mosque as a whole is an architectural wonder, its most remarkable features are the world's largest recognized chandelier and the second-largest Persian carpet.

Jebel Shams

Located within the magnificent Al Hajar Mountains range, Jebel Shams is its highest peak and is believed to be the first point on which the sun rises in Oman, which is how it got its name; the Mountain of Sun. The journey to the top is a long one, but it's worth it for the stunning views into Wadi (Valley) Ghul, known as the Grand Canyon of Arabia.

Wadi Bani Khalid

Located in the Al Sharqiyah Region, it has several water pools as well as a spring that keeps water flowing all year long. A stunning oasis with crystal clear green water surrounded by date palms and rugged mountains, it is widely known as a paradise on earth.

Musandam Beaches

The Musandam Governorate is located in the far north of Oman and is separated from the rest of the country by a piece of land from the UAE. Due to its unique fjord-like mountainscapes, it is often referred to as the “Norway of Arabia.” Dolphins and different kinds of birds visit its pure white-sand beaches, making the region one of the best places to visit in Oman for nature lovers.
