How did the company become a Tier 2 company within the automotive industry of Mexico?

Cuprum has a long history in aluminum extrusions, having started over 72 years ago. Cuprum gained experience extruding components for the construction industry, making profiles for doors and windows and basic standard industrial profiles. We continued to gain experience and started to fabricate ladders that are now in homes all over the world. With these types of products, Cuprum became the leading extruder of aluminum in Latin America, the leader in the ladder market in Canada and Mexico, and second in the US. Over the years, with the cost of gasoline hikes and tighter laws on lowering CO2 emissions, OEMs have focused on lowering the weight of both passenger cars and light trucks in order to improve efficiency by replacing heavy materials such as steel with lighter materials such as aluminum. It started mainly with premium vehicles, but again, as technologies are getting better and lighter vehicles are needed, the use of aluminum is growing in all types of cars and trucks.

What is Cuprum's standpoint on Industry 4.0?

We have identified projects for our Manufacturing 4.0 strategy and implemented a digital transformation management team. These projects were selected because they provide the most value with the least risk.
