Sharjah, October 18, 2017 – TBY is pleased to announce the launch of The Business Year: Sharjah 2017, the third edition on the Emirate, produced in partnership with the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD).

The publication features over 150 interviews with top executives and government officials, including an opening profile of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who is leading the successful diversification drive of Sharjah’s economy, as the Emirate continues to emerge on the global stage. “Our visibility is supported by our unique role in culture, education, and innovation in the region,” Qasimi told TBY.

Other key government and private sector figures featured in The Business Year: Sharjah 2017 include HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), HE Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Saeed M Al Amiri, Executive Vice-President, Head of Investment Group of Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB), Hatem Al Mosa, CEO of Sharjah National Oil Company (SNOC), and other key interviewees from all the sectors.

This year’s publication contains comprehensive, sector-by-sector coverage of the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for the future of the third-largest Emirate, as it cements its position as an increasingly central piece of the UAE’s economic health. This year’s edition also includes special contributions from a range of foreign leaders, including the former leaders of Germany, and the Republic of Ireland.

The Business Year: Sharjah 2017’s exploration of the Emirate’s diversification drive also features the most prominent voices from flourishing culture, media, tourism, and sports sectors. HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) highlighted the importance of these sectors, at both national and international levels: “our events are becoming world famous; for example, the Sharjah Light Festival has been compared to Sydney’s Vivid, the World Championship week has been streamed live globally, and our International Book Fair is now the third biggest in the world.”

The publication ends with a legal guide to doing business in Sharjah, composed by TBY’s local legal partners, Al Farouk Legal.
