TBY signs partnership with EUMCCI

Malaysia, March 16, 2015—The Business Year (TBY), an international publisher of yearly information resources on over 25 national economies, has signed a partnership agreement with the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI), the leading organization to promote, support, and develop European business interests in Malaysia.

The MoU was signed in Kuala Lumpur between Fermin Fautsch, Chairman of EUMCCI, and TBY Country Manager for Malaysia, Sofia Marrero.

The agreement underlines the importance of The Business Year: Malaysia as a tool to promote and attract investment into the country. The publication will include insights from leading political and business figures to provide accurate information, objective analysis, and strategic advice on the main economic trends in Malaysia. EUMCCI will support TBY in this endeavor.

The Business Year: Malaysia will be the most up-to-date and comprehensive English-language publication on the Malaysian economy, and will focus on the country’s chairmanship of ASEAN and the impact of closer regional political, economic, and socio-cultural integration on the local business environment. Other key pillars include the government’s Economic Transformation Programme, and structural reforms aimed at propelling Malaysia toward developed nation status by 2020.

The edition will reach over 12,000 readers in Malaysia and over 97,700 readers worldwide, in addition to highly circulated digital versions available via iPad, iPhone, and Android applications.

Sofia Marrero emphasized the increasing level of interest in the Malaysian economy; “The global business community is increasingly interested in finding out about the investment opportunities available in Malaysia. A number of ongoing government initiatives and its location at the heart of ASEAN make it one of the most sought-after investment destinations in Southeast Asia. With the support of the EUMCCI, The Business Year: Malaysia will supply this demand for intelligence and information through the first-person insights of the people driving the Malaysian economy.”

Commenting on the MoU signing, Fermin Fautsch said, “We are happy to start our cooperation with TBY in 2015 when Malaysia is chairing ASEAN and when the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Single Market will come to fruition, reaching one of its most important milestones since the inception of ASEAN in 1967. TBY is a leading publication providing high-quality economic and business knowledge as well as global trade and investment data and guidance. The cooperation between EUMCCI and TBY will focus to promote Malaysia as a gateway, and hub, to the ASEAN and Asia Pacific markets, with a view to contribute to maintain the growth momentum in investment and trade between the EU and Malaysia. We are also very pleased to see that the EU continues to be one of the largest investors in Malaysia, ranking second place in 2014, and that more EU companies are expanding or making new investments in Malaysia.”

After the signing ceremony, Sara Velezmoro, TBY Country Editor for Malaysia, said, “This a particularly exciting year for Malaysia as it oversees the creation of the ASEAN Economic Community and returns to the United Nations Security Council. We will meet with approximately 200 of the country’s top business and political leaders to discuss the current investment climate in all the major sectors of the national economy including finance, energy, industry, ICT, transport, construction and real estate, agriculture, health, education, and tourism. Selected interviews are the backbone of TBY’s research, and up-to-date focus articles will provide the readers of the publication with all the relevant facts and information related to the most interesting projects, investments, and specific opportunities in Malaysia.”
