TBY talks to Dr. Bader Othman Malallah, Director General, Arab Planning Institute, on the sector.

Dr. Bader Othman Malallah

What consultancy projects will the Arab Planning Institute focus on in the coming year?

We are currently involved in many consultancy projects. In Kuwait, we provide institutional and technical support for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to assessing its training needs and for the Chamber of Commerce & Industry in the area of SME development. At the same time, we are conducting an efficiency study of Kuwait's educational system. In the MENA region, we are currently supporting the UAE and Oman in designing investment maps, which we plan to implement in Tunisia and Sudan as well. Besides, we are involved in assessing the efficiency of the Jordanian Development Fund and in designing a developmental observatory for North Cordovan in Sudan, for which we are also technically assisting the Federal Economic Planning Agency. Finally, we are honored to assist the Bahraini Labor and Social Affairs Ministry in designing its strategic plan, by providing Somalia with necessary guidelines for its new national development plan, and by finalizing a comprehensive policy oriented strategy to improve the competitiveness and development performance of Lebanon's economy.
