ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
Kuwait's rich architectural and design history is being preserved today by firms with a strong work ethic and the utmost attention to detail.

Projects typically have a long lifecycle no matter if they are buildings or infrastructure; depending on the size of the project, the design phase can usually take two to four years while construction normally takes two to seven years. We are currently working on different type of projects, ranging from offices to colleges to master plans and infrastructure. However, I always feel proud of and close to projects that are vital to our country's infrastructure and economy. For example, we are involved in numerous road projects in Kuwait, such as Cairo Street, South Regional Road, and South Surra Road, which will upgrade the road network around and provide direct connection to Jaber Hospital. These streets and roads are all part of a road network that will eventually relieve pressure on Kuwait's congested roads. In this regard, one of our most important projects is the new Mubarak Al-Kabeer port, for which we partnered with a British firm and Pace Architects to design the landside buildings. The economic implications of this project are vast, as the majority of Kuwait ports run below capacity, which, in turn, affects Kuwait's trade volumes. We are also working on the Kuwait Cancer Center as well as on numerous hospitals, whether it is with the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Public Works.

In Kuwait, infrastructure projects have always been part of our work, and that area will continue to be important in 2017, as will the education and health sectors. We are currently working on the design of the largest children's hospital in the world in Kuwait. We are always on the lookout to be involved in the housing sector in Kuwait and the region for large-scale housing projects delivered by either the private sector or government. We already tapped into this sector in Bahrain and are working on a large social housing project for the Ministry of Housing and a new 200 key hotel that will be attached to one of the new shopping malls in Bahrain. We are also working on five residential towers at Diyar Al Muharaq as well as on a highway project in Bahrain. In Dubai, it is more about luxury buildings and commercial and tourism projects. The whole region lacks a lot of infrastructure so this sector will be important for the next 10-20 years. In terms of buildings, we go for residential multi-occupier or single, family-owned dwellings. In terms of our future strategy in housing, if the government comes up with better, well-defined housing schemes that involve financiers, contractors, and designers, then I am sure SSH will be involved.

Each and every project Pace undertakes follows five key principles of working—reflecting my own values and mission, so to speak. These values underpin everything we do at Pace, and reflect also the way I wish us to work with our clients. Creativity, adaptability, efficiency, absolute professionalism, and integrity are what we at Pace believe in—and what we deliver. The design process and our philosophy are based on collaboration among ourselves internally, the architects and engineers, and other 'partner disciplines,' and with our clients in response to their and the country's needs and environmental considerations. These are the precursors to how we start our design process. Our aim is simple: deliver outstanding results to our clients, whether a building, a road, or a masterplan for a whole new residential community. To achieve that outcome, it is crucial that our various specialist teams at Pace work extremely closely with our clients, from brief to concept to breaking ground, to completion and handover. In this way we can ensure our clients get the best return on what is a significant investment. Any design that has the name Pace associated with it must above all else be to our exacting Pace standards.
