Ezdan Group has traditionally targeted middle-income buyers. Why has the group recently begun targeting high-income individuals?

Ezdan Holding Group has been able, over long years of investment in the real estate sector, to achieve much, resulting in large-scale projects that have helped to revitalize the real estate market and meet the considerable needs of the Qatari population. We have continuously provided large numbers of units for middle-income people in order to meet demand from this category. At the same time, the provision of high-end units to meet the needs of high-income people and ensure their wellbeing has led to the establishing of a number of residential complexes opened in recent months at the heart of Doha. These integrated residential complexes offer residents welfare and a range of facilities, including swimming pools, nurseries, restaurants, financial service centers, high-speed internet, and sophisticated security systems.

What investments has the group made domestically, and do you have any plans for overseas expansion?

Ezdan Holding Group owns a huge portfolio of real estate assets in addition to existing projects, in addition to a huge portfolio of local stocks that vary according to several different sectors. We offer towers and residential complexes in the Al Wakrah and Al Wukair neighborhoods, which have become havens for thousands of people wishing to have a quiet and distinctive home. The Group also boasts a series of residential units in Doha, with 914 apartments at a total cost of QR1.1 billion. These units are spread over eight towers near the Souq Waqif neighborhood and the corniche. Ezdan Holding also owns the Ezdan Mall Gharafa, which opened in mid-April 2013, and Ezdan Mall Al Wakrah, which is expected to be open for business by mid-2014. In the hotel sector, the group owns Ezdan Hotel in the West Bay area of the Dafna region, one of the largest hotels in Doha that offers a variety of services and integrated features, with 3,100 rooms and suites. Ezdan Hotel Al Shamal is expected to open in 4Q2014, with a capacity of 220 rooms and suites. The second part of the Group’s investments is in the financial sector, confirming that Ezdan Holding Group is actively contributing to the state’s renaissance at all key levels. The group is engaged in the banking and financial sector, health, industrial, insurance, and media. The Group is a major shareholder in many leading bodies, including Qatar International Islamic Bank, Qatar Islamic Bank, Al Rayan Bank, Medical Care Group (Al Ahli Hospital), Qatar Islamic Insurance, and Qatari Investors Group (QIG), as well as several investments in the media sector. In general, the vision of His Excellency Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani al Thani, the Chairman of Ezdan Holding, aims to focus on domestic investment to serve Qatari society and participate in achieving the goals of Qatar National vision 2030; this is in addition to the State of Qatar’s favorable investment atmosphere and the development of a wide array of sectors. The overall group strategy is to dissociate from the real estate sector over the next five years, and during this period there will be many developmental projects aimed at achieving the maximum return for the group, and by extension for Qatari society itself. The emergence of a large number of companies can contribute to filling the gap that Ezdan will leave after its dissociation from the real estate sector.
