Can you tell us about the origins of Oasis Medspa?

Seven years ago, I had severe adult acne and I visited multiple spas around Lagos trying to find a solution, but nothing worked. I tried international spas and found some effective solutions and products for my skin type. In 2014, we opened Oasis Medspa to work with expertly trained international doctors and medical aestheticians who are experienced in anti-aging, esthetic, and integrative medicine.

How have the services you provide evolved over time?

Oasis Medspa is a premium corrective skin clinic and luxury day spa in Ikoyi. We are the avant-garde of beauty, esthetics, nutrition and medicine. When we started, we did a great deal of corrective skincare treatments. We then evolved into fat reduction and skin tightening treatments, as well as laser hair removal using state-of-the-art equipment. We initially tried to acquire a UK-based franchise, but there were challenges with partnering with established international medspa brands in Nigeria, so we decided to create a world-class facility on our own.

What are some of the most popular treatments at Oasis Medspa?

The most effective facial you can get is the hydrafacial, which is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and antioxidant protection, simultaneously resulting in clearer and more radiant skin. It is an anti-aging treatment suitable for all skin types as well as an acne prone skin. The Royal body polish is a surface exfoliation, and we use enzymes and our signature body scrub to exfoliate dead skin cells. No one performs this service but us. The third treatment, EXILIS ELITE is a non-invasive face and body contouring device designed to reduce fat, tighten loose skin, and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Using a combination of ultrasound and radiofrequency, Exilis delivers safe thermal energy that kills fat cells. Fat drains into the lymphatic system and is expelled from the body. The thermal energy also stimulates collagen and tightens the skin. Finally, the NDYAG laser treatment is very popular, even though most people think it is only about hair removal. We can perform over 100 treatments with our laser. The Quanta system's Q-switch NDYAG laser machine is a versatile tool that is effective against a wide variety of issues, including acne scars, tattoo removal, varicose veins, stretch marks, nail fungus, and many more. We are amongst only a few spas in Nigeria with this technology.

How is demand for more traditional rejuvenation treatments in Nigeria?

We have more demand for traditional rejuvenation treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers, PDO thread lift, and laser resurfacing, for example. Awareness has significantly improved in the last few years, and more people are interested in taking care of themselves.

How is demand for plastic surgery services at your clinic?

Currently, we have about 20-30 patients utilizing these services every two months, which is when we fly plastic surgeons from the US to Nigeria to perform them. Some women are interested in liposuction, while others want Brazilian butt lifts and other surgeries. Most of our surgeons are Nigerian-American doctors practicing in the US. Liposuction and fat transfer services are the most popular. It involves performing liposuction first, and we take fat from the abdomen or flanks to infuse to the buttocks. Awareness of these services is high, and demand for plastic surgery services is exploding.

What is your outlook for 2019?

I would love to bring in new products, services, and equipment in 2019. Additionally, I plan to further build my skincare line and work to ensure it is affordable.
