UAE, Ras Al Khaimah

Chairman, Courts Department

How do one-day cases benefit investors?

Ras Al Khaimah has been able to make judgments and execute contracts for over 50% of cases in less than one day. This is a quick turnaround; however, the most important aspect of this speed is that there are absolutely no appeals. Every party is satisfied by the judgment. We have an independent law body, which provides investors with confidence in knowing that no one will interfere with the rendered judgments.

How does the court system in Ras Al Khaimah defy expectations about law in the Arab world?

The world is misinformed about the basis of our legal system; it is modeled on the French system in a number of ways. Our new one-day initiatives are partly aimed at creating a new perception about how the law works in the Emirate. The courts are continuously seeking to develop new systems for a more efficient and transparent legal format. When we create agreements, we work hard to ensure that people understand and appreciate the ease and transparency of our laws.
