High on the agenda of our E&P companies is improving strategies for managing relations with host communities, particularly in the face of greater local opposition. In this segment interviewees also shed light on where they think opportunities lie for investors keen to participate in building Colombia energy infrastructure.

SECTOR REVIEW

The past three months have been disappointing, with many oil and gas players in the sector facing legal challenges on a municipal level from opportunistic and uninformed environmentalism. Nonetheless, large players like Ecopetrol are nonetheless bullish, with the company keen to take a share of the shale formation in the Magdalena Medio region, which is thought to hold between 2.5 and 7 billion of recoverable reserves. Our review notes that opportunities for global LPG importers looking to benefit from a declining domestic hydrocarbons output.

Transformation is the name of the game for the three companies we have highlighted this quarter. All three companies are playing a role in transforming their respective sectors. We take a look at the opportunities coming out of Bogotá, the strong performance of one E&P company and the increased investor interest it is generating, and examine capital-raising efforts of another company that has large ambitions for natural gas distribution in Colombia.
