The most important measure of any higher education institute is quality, and we achieve that through the accreditation process that we have in place for all of our programs. This is one of our first priorities as the youngest federal university, having been established in 1998. Zayed University has completed the process of international accreditation and recognition from US-based bodies for the majority of its academic programs. This process started in 2008 with the institutional accreditation by the Middle State Commission for Higher Education (MSCHE), one of the regional accreditation boards in the US. Then, the process of program-based accreditations started with our College of Business programs obtaining AACSB accreditation in 2012, while College of Education programs achieved NCATE accreditation the same year and was the first college to achieve that outside of the US. Thereafter, two of our College of IT programs completed the ABET accreditation in 2014; our College of Arts and Creative Enterprises obtained substantial equivalency from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) in 2015; and the College of Communications obtained accreditation with ACEJMC, the accrediting body for colleges of communication and mass media in the US, in 2015.

The first phase of our campus expansion has opened. It is a student hub with student services office, library, and university leadership offices. The second phase is expected to open in 2017 with academic spaces, classrooms, faculty offices, gyms, and recreational campus facilities. In terms of student intake, we were astonished by the number of students that applied for the new academic year as well as the rate at which our admissions offers were accepted. This most recent intake thus became the largest in the history of the university with more than 600 new students. We will also open our College of Science and Center for Teaching and Learning in 2017 with interesting chemistry and science programs. This growth has forced us to grow our services and reflects how reputable the university has become since we are outperforming our peers, some of whom have struggled with the economic downturn.

In consultation with key stakeholders, ACTVET has built a flexible, responsive, and quality-assured, industry-led national vocational education and training system. In recognition of our progress, ACTVET became the official awarding body for the UAE in 2014, not including Dubai, in order to provide students with high-quality learning opportunities and the skills required to meet labor market demands. Our achievements are directly linked to UAE Vision 2021 and Abu Dhabi Plan. The number of TVET institutions has increased and hence the student numbers. ACTVET has developed qualifications aligned with labor market requirements, and has increased the number of licensed training providers. In addition, the cost per student has dropped dramatically reflecting efficiency in operation. Vocational certificates have been issued in alignment with the target of creating a diversified knowledge-based economy.
