Frederick Aryeetey

Regional General Manager, Cummins

Cummins is an American company established in 1919. After operating through independent distributors for some years, Cummins Ghana was established as a fully owned Cummins distributor in 2009. Cummins Ghana is here to provide support for Ghana and the sub-region. We started by establishing strategic locations to bring resources closer to our customers and reduce lead time and downtimes. We are in the power and energy solutions space providing technologies in these areas. We also have engines for trucks, the marine sector, and oil and gas sectors. Cummins Ghana has invested USD20 million in facilities, strategic branches, dealerships, talent management, and inventory in the past five years. It is in this regard that the regional distribution center in Accra was established to stock huge parts—filters, new and reconditioned—to serve customers in our market and the region. Cummins only has two regional distribution centers in Africa, Ghana and South Africa. This enables us to push resources closer to our customers in Ghana and the West African territory to reduce downtime.

Emad Adeeb

Managing Director, Mantrac Ghana

Mantrac Ghana has been the sole authorized dealer for Caterpillar products and services since 1937. Between 2012 and 2020, we spent over USD60 million on facilities development, and that is just for buildings, infrastructure, and equipment. Nevertheless, every year we invest around USD500,000 minimum on tools and equipment, all to offer clients the maximum support for every piece of Caterpillar equipment purchased from us. We run a network of four branches in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tarkwa. In addition, we run many customer sites, with the largest ones for international mining customers like Newmont Ghana and Goldfields Ghana Limited. Facilities investment is an ongoing project with additions every year, key amongst them the state-of-the-art component rebuild center in Takoradi with an investment of USD45 million that should triple our current capacity when it comes to rebuilding component engines, hydraulic systems, and so on. The facility will be the largest in West Africa and possibly one of the largest in Africa. This is also the largest investment for a Caterpillar dealer in Africa currently.

Efe YeŞİl

Country Manager, Aksa Power Generation

We were in Nigeria for six years until 2010. Due to security reasons, we sought new and secure ports and moved to Ghana, one of the safest ports open to international markets. We operate in other neighboring countries through our distributors. We support these distributors on projects, especially with our technical team. Due to demand for generators, we bring in Perkins Engine products. We also have different types of engines, including John Deere, Volvo, Aksa, and Doosan, which is our bestseller. We want to diversify our product line, which will help us grow. Demand for our products is growing. We see opportunities in generators, as they are used by everyone. With Aksa Energy and other competitors, there is more reliable power. Ghana is predicted to grow under government programs and start manufacturing. This means the country will need generators more than ever. Ghana will definitely need more reliable and technical perspective that we can easily support.
