TBY talks to Eddy Martinez, President, Santo Domingo Cyber Park on the sector.

Eddy Martinez

What strategy do you take to help IT entrepreneurs and businesses in Santo Domingo?

Our value proposition is predicated on expanding the universe of IT and the number of start-ups in the Dominican Republic. We aim to promote the convergence of technologies in innovative business models to propel the country into the 21st Century. When we started the park, our premise was to help local and foreign companies become more competitive and innovative by establishing their operations in the park. As a result, we have been the catalyst for IT growth in the Dominican Republic, especially when it comes to building new companies and clusters of IT providers.

Which innovative companies are you most excited about right now?

We currently have over 20 companies operating in the park, including more than a dozen startups this year alone. One of these is our strategic partner the Network Access Point (NAP) of the Caribbean. As the national loop of fiber optics also converges at the Cyber Park, all the summary and cables come together at the NAP. All the IT and telecom providers have a physical presence at the park, especially at the NAP.
